This die is an adapter to hold one 2" die for a handheld extruder. The adapter fits in all square 4" extruders including NorthStar, Bailey, and TA Metal Works.
The adapter was suggested by Tim See at the 2025 NCECA. He has a few favorite handle dies and likes to make a "year's worth of handles in a day." Using a large extruder is time efficient and much easier than squeezing your hand extruder a thousand times.
The ridge around the top of the die serves two functions. It centers the die on the extruder, and it prevents clay from oozing out sideways.
The die is 4 3/4" x 4 3/4" and 1/4" thick. The narrowest point (between the notches) is 100mm.

The die and cutter are 3D-printed using PLA filament. PLA is a plastic made from starch (not petrochemicals) and is compostable in industrial composters.
It is the same material used to make compostable eating utensils.

Care information
To clean, remove as much clay as possible. Let remaining clay dry completely. Soak in water and brush with soft-bristled brush. Not dishwasher safe.
